This unforgettable African safari tour will take you to the Ngorongoro crater, rated as one of the top 10 safari destinations in the world. The Ngorongoro crater is a breathtaking natural wonder, featuring one of the highest concentrations of wildlife in Africa and offering some of the easiest and most rewarding game viewing in Tanzania. You will also visit the Lake Manyara National Park, home to a myriad of birdlife, offering an impressive diversity of habitats for animals and birds – slopes of the rift valley, groundwater forest, acacia woodlands, open grassland, and the soda lake itself. You will also visit the Tarangire National Park that offers a wide variety of wildlife. During the dry season, the Tarangire River offers the only permanent water source in the area and animals migrate to this park. We are flexible to tailor this sample Tanzanian safari itinerary – it can be adapted to suit your own personal needs and preferences, to any seasonal changes, or to migratory animal movements.

Day 2

Day 2 – Lake Manyara National Park – Ngorongoro Crater Non-game-viewing.                                                                          travel time: 2 hours                                                                                                                                                                    Distance: 60km

After breakfast, collect packed lunch and transfer to the Ngorongoro crater. Upon arrival, we will descend 600m into this magnificent crater for a full-day game drive. The Ngorongoro Crater is one of the most densely crowded African wildlife areas in the world and is home to an estimated 30,000 animals including some of Tanzania’s last remaining black rhino. Supported by a year-round water supply and fodder, the Ngorongoro Crater supports a vast variety of animals, which include herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, and giant African elephants. Another big draw card to this picturesque national park is it’s a dense population of predators, which include lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, and the ever-elusive leopard, which sometimes requires a trained eye to spot. We will enjoy a picnic lunch in the crater. Dinner and overnight at Fanaka Lodge
