Day 1 of Tour

DAY 1 : Exploring Arusha National Park.

  • Located just a short drive from Arusha, the Park is Tanzania's most accessible national park and the perfect place for a day trip as the first stop on a longer itinerary.

  • This beautiful Park has often been called a little gem and rightly so. It is only ½ an hour by tarmac road from Arusha town, the safari center of northern Tanzania.
  • With mountains, valleys, lakes, and small plains clothed in green,  it has a wonderful feeling of peace and solitude.
  • Mt. Meru is a dormant volcano about 1 ½ million years old.
  • One side of exploded out about 8,000 years ago as Meru’s caldera lake was transformed into super-heated steam by an inner eruption.
  • The geologists estimate that before Mount Meru blew its top it was a tall, symmetrical volcanic spire almost as high as Mount Kilimanjaro.
  • With diverse wildlife that includes herbivores such as elephants, hippos, buffalo, zebra,Colobus monkeys and even the occasional cats, Arusha National Park is also a perfect place to get out and stretch your legs  with both walking safaris and canoe safaris available within the park.
  • There are a number of special bird species to be found here including Bar-tailed Trogon, Narina Trogon, Taveta Weaver, Hartlaub´s Turaco, Scaly and Hildebrandt´s Spurfowl, Cinnamon-chested Bee-eater, Spot-flanked Barbet, Montane White-eye, Abyssinian Crimsonwing, Rüppel´s Robin-Chat and to name a few.

Day 3 of Tour

  • DAY 3: Lake Manyara National Park.

  • . There are copious ground water springs at one end, spilling out from the base of the  Rift Valley wall.

  • These give rise to a truly jungle type of ground-water forest, which is in stark contrast to the dry bush acacia woodlands all around, and to the enormous shallow alkaline lake that lies on the valley floor.
  • The small Lake Manyara National Park which is situated alongside the northern and western shores of a soda lake, is famous for its  birds present include Greater and Lesser* Flamingos, Black Heron,  Various Hawk,Eagles, , Two-banded Courser, Heuglin’s Courser, Chestnut-banded Plover and Red-winged Starling

  • Most of the characteristic East African mammals are found in Manyara including elephant, buffalo, hippo, lion, leopard, cheetah, giraffe and lots of plains game, and reputedly the largest baboon troupes in Africa.
  • Some lions have opted to rest up during the heat of midday in trees, giving rise to the mistaken belief that the Manyara lions are somehow different. Lions in many parts of Africa often spend time on the lower broad limbed branches of trees probably to escape flies.
  • This park is known for its breathtaking panoramic views, waterfalls and babbling brooks with clear water and hot springs.

  • Of the approximately 390 km2 that make up the park, two-thirds of that is water. The rest of the park is a large strip of land between the lake and the rocks.

Day 4 of Tour

  • DAY 4: Ngorongoro Crater .

  • Ngorongoro Crater is considered one the wonders of the Natural World.

  • It  covers over 102 square miles (250 square kilometers) and has 2.000 ft (800meters). high walls, making it virtually a Noah's ark of land

  • An extinct volcano that collapsed around 25 million years ago thus forming a vast super bowl where the largest permanent concentration of African game is on display.

  • The views from the top of the crater wall are absolutely breathtaking which are forested but four wheel drive vehicles will take you down into this primeval paradise of woodland, lake, river, swamp and plain that shelters around 20,000 animals.

  • Large grazing animals such as wildebeest, buffalo, gazelle and zebra that depends on the open grasslands in the crater. Attracting predators, the black-manned lion, the leopard and hyena.

  • The elephant found are the lone males. The Fever Tree forests shelter monkeys, bushbuck and waterbuck and the few black rhino that have taken refuge here.

  • A soda lake attracts water birds, including flamingos and is a favourite place for predators to make their kill.

  • Wildly beautiful as it is, it is not surprising that Ngorongoro Crater has been called a Garden of Eden.
