Day 3 of Tour

Masai mara

Spend the whole day in the Masai Mara on game drives and sightseeing. Masai Mara Game Reserve offers wonderful scenery and plenty of game. It is perhaps the only region left in Kenya where a visitor may see animals in the same super abundance as existed a century ago. The reason being that this hilly region is both humid and fertile and is crossed by Mara and Talek rivers full of crocodiles and hippos. The abundance of water and excellent availability of food are the reasons masai mara has greatest population of wild animals in the whole of Africa. There is a particularly dramatic spectacle from July to October, the annual migration of huge herds of Gnus and Zebras, predators such as Hyenas, Jackals, Leopards and lions closely follow these herds. The plain is literally covered with these animals. Grunts and other animal sounds are heard, and territorial fights are commonplace. The migration, now declared the Seventh Wonder of the World takes place from end July to September.

In fact, the crater has the greatest concentration of wild life in the planet. It contains a river, several swamps, from the top, looks like steam, full of flamingoes, a forest and open plains. The large bull elephants that reside here have extremely large tusk, due to the rich mineral content of the volcanic soil and its grasses. Possibility for an afternoon walking safari in Ngorongoro highlands. You will pass-by the crater as you continue to Karatu town for Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 9 of Tour

Arusha / Namanga: Amboseli national park

After breakfast, drive to Namanga border, after Immigration formalities, proceed to Amboseli national park to arrive for lunch and later afternoon game drive. The game Proceeds to the area of Lake Amboseli, which is a wide salt pan, consisting of permanent swamps. In the late afternoon one is likely to see a lion or cheetah make a kill. Ideal photography opportunities with Mount Kilimanjaro highest mountain in Africa providing a beautiful back drop. There is an advantage to this because one has to drive inside a park to be rewarded with the sight of many different species of animals. Amboseli has an endless underground water supply filtered through thousands of feet of volcanic rock from Kilimanjaro’s ice cap, which funnel into two clear water springs in the heart of the park. However, the climatic pendulum can swing from drought to flood, and in the early 1990’s ceaseless rain changed Amboseli into a swamp. Return to the camp for dinner and overnight.
