Day 3 Full Day Game Drive in Masai Mara National Park

Embark on a another full-day game drive in the Maasai Mara. The early hours are prime time for spotting predators. Your guide expertly navigates the terrain, and it isn't long before you witness a pride of lions, their golden coats blending seamlessly with the savannah. Nearby, a solitary leopard slinks through the underbrush, moving with the stealth and grace that make it such an elusive sight.

If you're visiting during the Great Migration, the spectacle of thousands of wildebeest and zebras moving in unison is awe-inspiring. The sight of these animals crossing rivers, braving crocodiles and other dangers, is a raw and powerful reminder of nature's cycles.

As the day heats up, animals seek shade, and so do you. It's time for a leisurely lunch at a shaded picnic spot.

The heat of the day brings different wildlife into view. Elephants, majestic and imposing, move slowly across the landscape. At watering holes, you might see hippos submerged in the cool water, eyes and nostrils just above the surface. Birdlife is abundant and colorful.

As the day cools, the predators become active again. This is a prime time to witness the strategy and drama of the hunt. Cheetahs, the fastest land animals, may be seen stalking their prey, using their speed in short, explosive bursts.

As the sun sets, you return to camp exhilarated and filled with stories to share.

Day 4 Masai Mara & Masai Village

Today is dedicated to a full-day exploration of the Masai Mara, one of Africa’s most celebrated wildlife reserves. After an early breakfast at Neptune Mara Rianta, you’ll set off on a game drive that takes you deep into the heart of the reserve. This is prime time for wildlife viewing, as the animals are most active in the cooler morning hours.

Accompanied by an experienced guide, you’ll traverse the open plains and acacia-dotted landscapes in search of the Big Five: lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino; as well as cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, and countless antelope species. The Mara is also home to an incredible variety of birdlife.

At midday, stop in a scenic location to enjoy a packed picnic lunch surrounded by the sights and sounds of the bush.

In the afternoon, your journey continues with a visit to a traditional Masai village. Here, you’ll gain insight into the culture, customs, and daily life of the Masai people. It’s an enriching opportunity to connect with one of Kenya’s most iconic communities before heading back to camp.

Return to Neptune Mara Rianta in the late afternoon for dinner and relaxation under the stars.

Good To Know

Best Time to visit the Masai Mara: The best time to visit the Masai Mara is during the dry season from July to October, which coincides with the Great Migration. Kenya’s rainy season runs from March to May, with April being the wettest month. While the scenery is lush and crowds are minimal, heavy rains can make some roads difficult and may affect travel plans. If you choose to travel during the rainy season, please be aware that weather-related disruptions are possible, and it is the traveler’s responsibility to accept these potential impacts when booking during this period.
Luggage Restrictions: Due to aircraft size, guests are limited to 15kg (33 lbs) in soft-sided bags (including hand luggage).
All-Inclusive: This package covers your meals, drinks (soft drinks and alcohol), daily game drives, park fees, and transfers. Extras such as spa treatments, and gratuities are not included.
Vaccinations:
Yellow Fever: Kenya does not require any mandatory vaccinations for entry. However, a yellow fever certificate is required if you’re arriving from a country where yellow fever is present. The vaccine is also strongly recommended for travelers visiting regions outside Nairobi and the coast.
Malaria: Antimalarial medication and mosquito precautions (repellent, long sleeves) are advised.
Tipping Etiquette: Tipping is customary and greatly appreciated. We recommend $10–$15 per guest per day for your guide, and $5–$10 per day for lodge staff
Visa Requirements: As of January 2024, Kenya has implemented an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) system for all foreign visitors. Travelers must apply online via the official portal: etakenya.go.ke. The eTA costs USD $30 and is valid for a single entry of up to 90 days. Ensure your passport is valid for at least six months from your arrival date.
