Good To Know

1. Best Time to Visit the Maasai Mara:

The Maasai Mara is a year-round safari destination, offering exceptional wildlife encounters in every season. Little Enkewa is located in a private area of the Mara ecosystem, allowing guests to enjoy a more exclusive safari experience away from the busiest routes throughout the year.

• July to October – Best for the Great Migration
This is the most famous period to visit the Maasai Mara, when millions of wildebeest and zebras move through the Mara ecosystem from the Serengeti. The season offers incredible wildlife encounters, dramatic river crossings and some of Africa’s best predator viewing.

• November to December – Best for green landscapes & quieter safaris
The short rains transform the Mara into a lush green landscape, creating beautiful conditions for photography. Visitor numbers are generally lower, while resident wildlife remains abundant.

• January to March – Best for wildlife photography & predator sightings
Warm, dry conditions create excellent safari opportunities. Lions, leopards and cheetahs remain active throughout the ecosystem, while the open plains provide exceptional visibility for photography.

• April to June – Best for private safari experiences
The long rains bring fewer visitors, dramatic skies and vibrant landscapes. This period is ideal for travellers seeking tranquillity, exclusivity and a more intimate connection with the wilderness.

Because Little Enkewa offers an exclusive-use camp experience, it is particularly well suited for travellers seeking privacy and flexibility, regardless of the season.

2. What are the luggage restrictions?

This safari includes a scheduled bush flight between Nairobi and the Maasai Mara.
Safari aircraft operate with limited luggage capacity, and guests should bring soft-sided bags only (no hard suitcases).

The standard luggage allowance is 15 kg per person, including hand luggage.
Additional luggage allowance can be purchased in advance, subject to availability and aircraft capacity. Please contact us before travelling if you require extra baggage allowance.
